Organic Sheep

We converted to organics about a year after we bought the farm.  It did not take long to realise that the older Romney’s just did not work well with the new regime.  We bought in some ‘Biodales’  (a blend of feral Merino and Wiltshire) and have been breeding up from them ever since.

We now have a flock of approx 120 ewes that show strong resistance to both worm and fly, shed much of their wool on body and crutch and muster very easily.  The meat quality is excellent and the product mostly sold to organic butchers in New Zealand either on contract or in individual lots at an excellent premium.
